Toxemia of Pregnancy is characterized by elevated blood pressure, puffy face, excessive weight gain, abdominal pain and discomfort, blurred vision, headache, irritability and muscle twitching. It is seriously elevated blood pressure and disturbance of the central nervous system and kidney function that can occur from the 20th week of pregnancy until about one week after delivery.
