Rabies is characterized by fatigue, restlessness, irritability, persistent cough, sore throat, increased tear production, extreme levels of activity, difficulty swallowing, confusion, irregular heartbeat and difficulty breathing. It is an infection of the nervous system caused by the bite of an animal infected with the virus.
