Lice are characterized by itching, skin rash, common infections and red spots on upper trunk. They are insects that can establish themselves on a person's head, in the pubic area, or elsewhere on the body.  They feed on human blood and crawl on the body causing irritation of the skin and, in some cases, secondary infections.  They are usually transmitted by contact from one person to another.
