Hookworm infection is characterized by a skin rash, breathing difficulty, abdominal pain and discomfort, diarrhea, weight loss, fatigue, general weakness, rapid heart rate and bloating and stomach distress. It is a parasitic infection that affects the intestines.  Hookworms are about 1/2" long and attach themselves to the intestinal wall and suck blood.
