Cancer in children is characterized by an unusual mass or swelling, paleness, listlessness, bruise easily, localized pain or limp, prolonged fever or illness, frequent headaches with vomiting, weight loss and vision disturbances.  When children experience persisting symptoms such as aches and pains, particularly in the head or abdomen or a leg, or if they limp, special attention should be paid to the condition immediately.
