Toxoplasmosis is characterized by enlarged spleen, fever, breathing difficulty, irregular heartbeat, heart palpitations and meningitis. It is an infectious disease caused by an organism called Toxoplasma gondii.  This parasitic infection can be acquired through maternal infection during pregnancy that is transmitted to the fetus.
