Sepsis is characterized by fever, vomiting, diarrhea, appetite loss, irritability, drowsiness and skin rash. It is an inflammatory response that can interfere with the circulation of blood and oxygen to vital organs of the body.  It can be caused by infection, hemorrhagic shock, immune-mediated organ injury, ischemia, and trauma leading to tissue injury.
