Cardiomyopathy is characterized by irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath, swollen ankles, fatigue, persistent cough, appetite loss, loss of sex drive and colored sputum. It is a weakening of the heart muscle which reduces its capacity to pump blood throughout the body.  This disorder is usually associated with alcoholism.
